Ok the big surprise the insulation industry like many construction materials has made leaps and bounds. I honestly believe the theory is still the same and that is to add a barrier between the colder elements to the warmer interior areas, but how you do it has amazed me.

Insulation has a tendency to settle over the years and no longer provides the air barrier it one had. How often as a Realtor when I enter into some of the older homes do I see in the attic which looks like blown in type insulation but only an inch or so deep. Many times I see the old pieces of newspaper they would shred and then spread in the attic (only good to read a very short story). So below I did some research and much naturally is copied from insulation company web sites as where else could you learn about insulation.

I have had the fortune of seeing the blown on product on the ceiling plywood and rafters, and it’s amazing the expansion within just minutes to a great depth, as well as almost instantaneously you would hear less of the exterior noise at the construction site. Here is a link to a site where you can do it yourself. Nothing like saving some money for a weekend do it yourself product.

One of our local insulation providers web site has given permission to use some of the text and I hope you learn as much as I have and I hope you will do what we are doing saving energy, helping a tenant and the owner as well as a learning curve for an agent that has been in the business now for over 35 years. As the old saying goes you never stop learning!
